Calvary's Cross - Jack Blake - 10-24-2023
Good Morning Friends,
I have a bittersweet, mental picture of Jesus hanging from Calvary's cross, which reminds me of His great love for us, and His willingness to suffer and die to redeem us from our sins. Seeing His outstretched arms, I think of His words in Matthew 11.28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
To know that it is I who am responsible for His crucifixion because of my sins, brings tears to the eye, and pain to the heart. But when I consider His love for me, and His willingness to forgive my sins and welcome me back into His arms and into His rest, brings peace and joy to my soul. A bittersweet thought indeed.
